Analysis of DJ Magazine Front cover, Contents page and D.P.S.

Image:
  • colour scheme is black, white, red and yellow; black and white being the most dominant
  • mid shot, this is the usual shot type of magazines
  • eye level, this is also commonly used to make the artist look equal to the reader
Page Layout:
  • masthead, the logo of the magazine
  • skyline and baseline, often used but not on every magazine
  • puff, the yellow word 'ade' 
  • strapline, the slogan of the magazine
  • main cover line, the main story/interview of the magazine
  • cover lines, other stories/interviews beside the main cover line
  • barcode
Language:
  • informal, uses slang and casual language
  • uses genre specific words, words that are only familiar to the listeners of the specific genre
  • other artists are also mentioned

Music Genre:
  • tech/house
  • drum&bass
  • dubstep

Page Layout:
  • three columns of pictures/features
  • nine pictures of artists and venues
  • picture page numbers are random
  • feature page numbers are in chronological order


Language:
  • genre specific words

  1. This is a decent start Bence but you needed to expand beyond simply a list of bullets. Add some more detailed analysis and discussion of connotations / meanings, and give examples from the magazine. YOu also need to do Task 2b on audience and publisher. Vanessa
